Boston Mayor Kim Janey declares Indigenous People’s Day and recognizes the Massachusett Tribe.

In 1675 colonist law forbid the Massachusett at Ponkapoag from being inside the city, or speaking our language. This law was not repealed until 2004.
The Massachusett Tribe are now recognized, celebrated and speaking our language in Boston once again! You can view the Mayor’s remarks here.
